Senior Accountant

Job description:

Now in our 20th year, Digital Dispatch™ is a global provider of turnkey wireless mobile data solutions which include computerized dispatch systems, wireless mobile data infrastructure and mobile devices. Markets served include taxi, transit/paratransit, emergency services, courier, roadside assistance, airport shuttle, and vehicle location and tracking. Digital Dispatch™ has installed approximately 75,000 wireless mobile data devices and nearly 200 wireless data systems on 5 continents.

The Network Administrator / IT Developer will work with the IT team and be responsible for implementing and maintaining Digital Dispatch System's technical infrastructure. Key areas of responsibility include servers, databases, billing systems, network operating systems, firewalls and switches, as well as general maintenance of IT equipment across our eight worldwide offices. Although this role is primarily that of a Network Administrator, it does require some development skills.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Windows 2003/2000 server / workstation systems; availability, integrity and security including installation and/or system recovery
  • Maintain legacy IT systems utilizing Access and SQL databases
  • Support all technology equipment, including hardware, software, printers, firewalls, phone system, etc.
  • Maintain and support data backup system ; Symantec Backup Exec 10, including off-site tape management
  • Respond in a timely and professional matter to technology support requests
  • Responsible for tracking support issues and creating solution and help documents

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years experience in a Network Administration role
  • 1 year of development experience using VB or VBA.
  • Microsoft technologies including Active Directory / Exchange 2003
  • Database administration (Access and MS SQL). Visual Basic or VBA programming skills required.
  • Firewalls (SonicWall)
  • Knowledge of workstation deployment processes such as Symantec Ghost
  • Experience with Internet technologies with emphasis on security including Routers, Gateways, Firewalls, Enterprise Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, and VPNs
  • ASP hosted environments and 24/7 systems monitoring
  • Experience in a software development environment; ideally Java, Open Source web platforms, Oracle, Citrix
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal
  • Excellent team player
  • Technology Diploma / Degree and/or MS certification
